Vita of Lynn Torbeck

As a consultant and trainer, Mr. Torbeck has specialized in applied statistics and experimental design for pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical development, quality assurance and control, validation, and production under the CGMP’s. Areas of expertise include Quality by Design, Design Space, OOS/OOT, SQC/SPC, statistical PAT, assay validation, auditing sampling plans and setting specification criteria. He has been active in the pharmaceutical industry in statistics, quality, and management since 1975, having worked with a wide variety of companies, including pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, fine chemicals, medical devices, and cosmetics. He has been president of Torbeck and Assoc. since 1988.

In his last industry position, Mr. Torbeck was the Director of Validation, worldwide Quality Assurance, for G. D. Searle and Co., Skokie, IL, (Pfizer), a research-based international pharmaceutical firm. Previously, he held positions of Director of Technical Services, U.S. Quality Assurance and Manager of Physical Science Statistics in the company’s Research and Development Division. He has done extensive training and consulting worldwide, including Australia, Bali, Canada, China, England, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Kuala Lumpur, The Netherlands, Singapore, and Switzerland.

Lynn is proud to be a member of the American Statistical Association, PDA, Senior Member of the American Society for Quality, ASQ, ASTM, ISPE and past president of the Chicago Chapter of the American Statistical Association. He is past Book Reviews Editor for the Journal of Quality Technology, a publication of the American Society for Quality. He holds BS and MS degrees in Statistics with minors in Operations Research and Computer Science.
